strength. defined by merriam-webster as the quality or state of being physically strong, the ability to resist being moved or broken by a force and the quality that allows someone to deal with problems in a determined and effective way. although there are far worse things then being diagnosed with celiac disease, living on a daily basis with an autoimmune disease takes a great deal of strength. physical strength is crucial to living a healthy gluten free lifestyle. many celiacs present with extremely unhealthy bodies, some with low calcium and reduced bone density upon initial diagnosis. they are challenged not only when given the initial diagnosis but are required to somehow "become healthy" again and work to rebuild the density in their bones. get up, get moving and get engaged in a physical activity that you love. make it a part of your daily routine and you will be slowly but surely on the path to becoming a physically strong person. determination, developing the strength to focus on the mental determination that you need in order to deal with celiac on a daily basis and effectively manage the diet/lifestyle (it is a full time job). without the strength of determination and the ability to put your mind in a happy place it will be more challenging to express those positive and negative emotions that can float around. use those close to you, maintain and engage with other celiacs and your supporters, they will always be your best gluten free medicine.
